Why Are You Absent in Class?

Students go to school because it is in school where they can learn many things. The attendance is very important for the students' performances and success in school. The objective of the academic institutions is that when a student is always in school, he or she can develop his or her personal responsibility, can adhere to the state and district regulations, and can build a sense of trust between his or her school and home. A teacher may ask you "Why are you absent?"Throughout the school year, a student can be absent in his or her classes because of different reasons. Some are acceptable while some are not. Here are the top five reasons why students are frequently absent:

Sickness or illness and Doctor or Dental Appointment. This is the top reason why a student is absent. His or her sickness can be in the form of fever, chicken pox, gum problems, or any other illnesses. Sometimes these are unacceptable and professors or teachers require a doctor's certificate as proof. There are schools that have their own arrangements on medical appointments on how it should be done.A student may be absent because he or she needs to see her doctor on a school day. She really needs to check her health's condition. After all, health is a precious wealth.

1. Family emergencies. Families are important. There could be a problem within the family that the child needs to be absent. It could be in the form of a death in the family or funeral, a house on fire, accidents, and others.

2. Bullies. Students are often bullied by some of their schoolmates and that is why they don't want to go to school. They want to avoid their classmates that are bullies. It is a concern of most parents. This could have an effect on a child's performance in school.

3. Birthdays, Family Visits, Shopping, etc. These are not acceptable reasons for being absent. Birthdays come only once a year and students want to enjoy this day. But students do not go to class because maybe it's his or her birthday, or he or she go to family visits or even shop with his or her friends.

5. Laziness. Students don't go to school because maybe they're just lazy to do so. They would reason out that they overslept, missed the bus, the weather isn't fine; there's a transportation problem, or just don't want to listen to their teacher's lectures.

The school is the one who can authorize a student's absences. According to the state law, students should be in school not unless if they are very ill. This is the most valid ground in being absent. But absences are considered during religious holidays, family emergencies, and medical, legal or dental appointments. Some absences are considered and accepted. Some are not. It is really important for parents to make plans that will not affect their child's attendance in school. It is strongly discouraged to be absent for the reasons that are not valid.

Iron On Patches: 5 Tips on Using Them

Whether you're repairing an item of clothing or adding a new snazzier look to a garment, they're especially great for giving kids clothes an individual look with well loved characters and logos. And can even be put on fabric bags. But how do you ensure that you use them correctly in the first place? Here's some tips to make sure things don't all go horribly wrong when you affix your patch.

Instructions
Most iron on patches come with their own set of instructions. So before following through with any of the tips here, read the instructions that come with the patches. Not all patches are the same. A lot of how you affix them depends on how they've been made. Following manufacturer's instructions will save you from ruining the patch or the item you want to attach it to.

Fabric
Not all fabrics are suitable for attaching iron on patches to. Due to the fact that iron on patches work on using the heat provided by an iron to activate the "glue" on the back of patches, fabrics that can melt from the heat of irons are a bad choice for attaching patches to. Avoid elastic fabrics and man-made ones based on plastics such as nylon. Basically: if you wouldn't iron it normally, because it would melt from the heat, there's no point in ironing on an iron on patch.

Holes
If you're using a patch to disguise/fix a hole that has developed in a garment then you should consider sewing up that hole as best you can before you affix the patch. And when you do attach the patch, make sure you don't accidentally fix it to the opposing side of the hole. There's no need to end up with a pair of jeans with a leg that you're unable to put your leg through.

Clean
Whatever you're attaching the patch to should be clean when you fix it on. This is so that no dirt interferes with the adhesive on the patch. Failure to attach the patch to a clean surface will likely result in the patch not staying on as securely as it could. If you're worried about a hole getting worse if you put the item in the wash before fixing on the patch, then hand wash it instead of putting it a washing machine.

Sewing
It may seem crazy to suggest this, but if you plan on attaching your patch to a garment or bag that is either going to be washed on a regular basis or will be out in all sorts of weather - you should sew the patch on after ironing it on. Do this if you want your patch to last. With the patch ironed on first, it'll be easier to go around the edge sewing it on as well.

Final tip: It's possible to find a wide variety of iron on patches at online gift stores.

Best Selling Purses Review

One aspect of dressing up that is fun for a girl is her purse. Purses can compliment an outfit or a jacket and can come in so many shapes, sizes and textures. Some people include their purse as part of their fashion statement. They might have a favorite brand that they like or a particular size and pattern that they love. While a girl, might have just one purse at a time that she totes around, some people will have several; some for the evening, casual, business and a few fun bags to carry around.

The business of purses is a big one for the retail world. Women are continuously changing purses and they can sometimes follow a trend pattern. Where some seasons it is in style to wear a huge purse while in other seasons it is in style to lug around small ones. Women seem to follow the trend where ever the purse will take them. This is an important gadget for any woman, as her purse will hold her phone, wallet, sunglasses and everything else important for her during her day and night routine.

There are several popular names for purse buyers. Nine West for example sells purses that can sometimes be matched to their shoes or accessories. They can be flirty, sleek, elegant, and casual and business minded. There is the Nine West Party Girl bag that is small in size with an elegant chain strap and comes in gold, black or mauve printed fabric.

Guess is a popular name brand for women`s purses. They are known for having their big logo printed on the front of their hand bags. They come in many colors and fabrics and many women love accessorizing them with other aspects to their outfit. The Guess Jacko is a small sachet with pal brushed gold toned hardware and tumbled pebble vinyl exterior. The Boutique Tote is a small purse that has two chain straps and is open at the top with a snap fixture for closing. It has a polished silver tone and a kiss lock front pocket.

Michael Kors has been making and designing purses for almost two decades. He has a bag called the Astor suede that is soft light blue, or purple or comes in beige. It has nickel stud accents and leather trim. He also makes a purse called the O.C metallic east and west flap bag. It is elegant and metallic platinum leather in an envelope style. This bag is designed for evening wear and has silver accents. The Hutch suede flap bag comes in lime, blue and sand plush. It has glamorous metallic accents with matching straps and an outside pouch with pockets and net fitting overlay.

When you`re looking for a new purse check out the internet and magazines to see what is new and trendy. You can also see what celebrities are into and try to follow the same look. Many styles can be copied in other brands or you can try to find the same brand that your favorite star was sporting around. If you are not into trendy purses you can simply decide what size of bag you need and go from there. Big purses will hold everything but can sometimes be heavy around the arm and shoulder, while small purses are light they can be a pain to fit things into and can sometimes fall off the arm too easily making it frustrating.

Changing London Skyline

Whilst many construction projects are being scrapped or put on hold in the current economic climate, two major developments in London are going ahead which will be significant additions to the city's skyline. Shard London Bridge and Heron Tower have been vying for the title of London's tallest building.

We examine the two new giants on the London skyline and their progress to date

Shard London Bridge...

Shard London Bridge, which was previously known by various names including 'The Shard' and 'London Bridge Tower', will be the tallest building in the EU when it is completed in 2012. It was originally planned as the tallest in Europe but has subsequently been overtaken by two Moscow skyscrapers.

Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, who is best known for designing the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the building will be 1,017 feet (310 metres) tall with 72 floors plus 15 radiator floors in the roof. It will be a mixed-use development with the lobby occupying the first three levels, office space from floors 4-28, a hotel on floors 31-50 and residential apartments at floors 53-65. Floors 31-33 will be occupied by restaurants and a viewing gallery, with a spa on floor 52 and a further viewing gallery and open-air observation decks on floors 64-72. Floors 75-87 will form a spire that will accommodate the radiator panels.

The whole building has an irregular triangular shape and will be clad entirely in glass with a ventilated double skin façade. This is intended to provide the maximum amount of natural daylight and reduce heat gain for maximum comfort levels. Excess heat from the offices will heat the hotel and apartments or be dissipated through the radiator floors.

Shard London Bridge was designed in 2000 and was subject to a public enquiry in 2002 after opposition from local authorities and heritage bodies. It was eventually approved in 2003 and an interim funding package was secured in 2006, although the financial problems of 2008 threatened the project before Qatari investors took control.

Demolition of Southwark Towers, which the Shard replaces, started in 2008 and was completed in 2009, with site preparation then beginning. Building contractor Mace won the construction contract for a maximum fixed price of £350 million, although this subsequently increased by £85 million. Construction began in March 2009 and by November 2010, the building had passed the 235-meter mark, making it Britain's tallest building.

The building's location, next to London Bridge railway station, has presented logistical problems. Demolishing the existing Southwark Towers required tying back and stabilising other structures before this could start. Additionally, the construction of the foundations required a 5,500 cubic metre concrete pour, with 700 truckloads coming in over a 36-hour period at a weekend while traffic was quieter.

Heron Tower...

Heron Tower began development earlier than the Shard, with full construction starting in April 2008 and structural completion occurring in April 2010. Like the Shard, however, it was the subject of a public enquiry, with heritage groups objecting to the construction of a skyscraper close to St. Paul's Cathedral.

Heron Tower was designed by architects Kohn Pederson Fox and is a 755 foot (230 metre) tower, including a 28 metre mast. The building is a glass and steel structure that provides 442,928 square feet (41,149 square metres) of office space over 36 floors plus a restaurant, sky bar and three basement levels. The offices are divided into groups of three floors to form office 'villages' of around 35,000 square feet.

The service core is offset to create flexible, open plan office space and the external steel structure reduces the need for internal columns. The floors are served by ten double-deck high speed lifts plus six external scenic lifts. Clear glass on the building facades maximises daylight and photovoltaic cells generate renewable energy, giving the building a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating.

Heron Tower, which is being constructed by Heron International, will be the centrepiece of the Heron Plaza development on the 110 Bishopgate site. This will include new public spaces, squares and gardens. By the end of 2009, the building had reached the 44th floor, which meant it overtook Tower 42 to become the tallest building in the City of London. However, its reign was short lived, with Shard London Bridge overtaking it well before its completion.

Both buildings will change the London skyline forever and hopefully they will become a symbol for growth and new beginnings as they reach completion at a time when the country should be bouncing back from the recession.

Always in Fashion - Silver Clutch Bags

It is said that some things, like attitude and silver clutch bags never go out of fashion. A silver clutch bag is defined as a small, silver handbag, which does not have a handle, and is designed to be carried by "clutching" it in one's hand. They are generally carried for formal evening dinner parties. Women need bags to carry their things, especially because the most feminine clothes come sans pockets. Plus, to maintain that gorgeous look, a woman must carry her purse, compact, lip gloss and Chap Stick with her always, in addition to the compulsory money and cell phone. A huge handbag looks silly on a slinky, sexy evening gown, and so these bags are the best way to go.

Silver clutch bags are always in vogue mainly because they match with most outfits. Especially if you combine them with a dark coloured evening dress, silver jewellery, and matching makeup. However, there are gold and silver clutch bag combos - which match with your jewellery in case you are wearing gold. This bag is a woman's best friend and an absolute must have for your wardrobe.

It is believed that these bags evolved with the evolution of clutch purses in the Victorian era, with the reticule - a tiny purse in which a high class, well-groomed lady kept her handkerchief (in case she bursts into tears (which happened a lot in those days) and her smelling salts (in case she swooned - which also happened very frequently in those days). These went out of fashion, and made a comeback during World War - 2, when due to financial problems and lack of resources, everything had to be rationed out, and everything had to be necessarily small. Thus, the clutch became an evening bag, because its origins lay with the Victorian era of long, silk, velvet or satin flowing skirts which have evolved now into beautiful, elegant evening gowns, usually made of similar materials.

Silver clutch bags are fashionable because their silver colour adds to the beauty of an evening gown, and because they complete the look of elegance.

Messenger Bags Are Getting More Popular - Are Hobo Bags Or Totes Your Best Choice?

When you go out for the day and the local outlet mall is your destination, then a Hobo or a Tote Bag might be a good choice. There is lots of space, and the bags are not that heavy...not a lot of compartments, just a lot of space. There are a number of fabric or canvas bags that are well suited for a casual day at the mall. And if you have to transport the soccer team later, they are very practical.

But what about spending a day on the college campus, or the office (if you are in the workforce) or even a volunteer day at a local church or business that serves the community? A backpack has become the choice of a number of day-trippers. It is not always a prime fashion choice, but practical. There is an alternative that is looming on the horizon. The messenger bag is becoming more popular by the day. It has more appeal than a backpack, and with the popularity of more tech gadgets such as iPads, netbook computers and smart phones, a more secure and convenient way to transport them. A messenger bag is a cross between a laptop bag and a businessman's briefcase. They are shaped like a briefcase, but they are soft sided with a large flap that buckles in the front for security. They may have a handle like a briefcase, but will also have an across shoulder strap that allows you to rest the bag on your hip or at your back. They come in a variety of sizes depending on your needs. Are you carrying a few books; will you need a laptop compartment; are you going overnight for a business conference and need to carry a change of clothes; will you need compartments for important papers? Whatever your need, you should easily find a messenger bag to fill it.

As far as fashion goes the messenger bag is usually made of heavy nylon or canvas, although you can find some made of leather, with a plain front, allowing for personalizing. If you are a college student, you could decorate with your school colors or logo, or attach pins from places you've been. Perhaps iron-on-patches are your thing, or family pictures or flowers. Use your imagination to personalize a bag any way that suits you. So take a look at what you have, and if your Hobo bag is serving you well, then great, but, you just might find a perfect Messenger Bag that makes your day trip more comfortable and secure. So, check out what you can find at your local retail shops and on-line stores, and make your own fashion statement.

Vena Cava to launch handbags for Spring 2012!

If you’ve done any shopping in the contemporary department of your local high-end department store in the past few years, then you’re probably well familiar with the slightly retro, very It Girl look of Vena Cava. The brand works brilliantly with off-kilter prints and vintage inspiration to create memorable clothes at a somewhat attainable price point, and according to Women’s Wear Daily, we’ll also be seeing handbags from the insider-favorite line in the near future.  Click for More Certainly Related Handbags
During the designer’s presentation dinner a few days ago, the duo behind Vena Cava gave editors and buyers a little thrill by including bags, which they called “purposefully nondescript,” on the arms of their model-muses. There aren’t any detail shots just yet, but almost all of the lookbook outfits include bags, and it seems as though Vena Cava has the basis for a bright handbag future that will make the brand’s devotees very happy. The line will be priced from $275 to $550, and we have more photos after the jump.
